FAQ
You book through Rodavia, and a local rental company fulfills the agreement. Your voucher contains all terms, the supplier's contact details, and the pickup address. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often.
What documents do I need at pickup?
Bring your voucher (printed or on your phone), a valid driver's license held for the minimum period stated in your voucher, passport or ID card, and a credit card in the main driver's name. Some suppliers accept debit cards for the deposit; the voucher will specify. If your license uses non-Latin script, an International Driving Permit is required alongside the original license.
How does the booking advance work?
When you confirm a reservation, you pay an advance to Rodavia. The voucher shows what remains due to the rental company at pickup. The advance secures your vehicle; the supplier holds a reversible deposit on your card at the counter, released after you return the vehicle undamaged with a full tank.
Can I change or cancel my reservation?
Cancellation and amendment rules depend on the rate you chose. Check your voucher or the terms sent by email. Many bookings allow free cancellation up to 48 hours before pickup; others carry a fee. To modify dates or add an extra driver, contact us at [email protected] or call +355 68 315 9264. We will confirm whether the change is possible and any cost difference.
What is the minimum age and driving experience?
Most suppliers require drivers to be at least 21 years old with a license held for one year. Larger vehicles and premium categories often have higher limits-23 or 25 years and two years' experience. A young-driver supplement may apply. The voucher states the exact requirement for your booking.
Is the vehicle delivered with a full tank?
Yes. Albania operates a full-to-full fuel policy: you receive the vehicle with a full tank and return it full. Keep your last fuel receipt in case the supplier requests proof. Stations like Kastrati and Gulf are easy to find on the SH2 toward Durres and near Tirana Airport on Rruga e Durresit.
Can I drive into neighboring countries?
Cross-border travel to Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Greece is often permitted, but you must declare it when booking. The supplier will issue a green-card extension and may charge a border fee payable at pickup. Some vehicle categories are excluded. Always confirm in advance; leaving Albania without authorization can void your insurance.
What if my flight is delayed?
If you provided a flight number during booking, the supplier monitors arrivals at TIA Rinas and adjusts the pickup time accordingly. For delays longer than three hours or pickup outside the desk's operating hours, contact the number on your voucher as soon as you land. After-hours service may incur an additional fee.
Are there mileage limits?
Most offers include unlimited mileage. A few budget rates cap daily distance; the voucher will show any limit and the per-kilometer charge beyond it. For trips along the SH8 riviera to Saranda and Ksamil or inland to Berat and Korca, unlimited mileage removes guesswork.
Who do I contact if I have a problem during the rental period?
For roadside assistance, breakdowns, or accidents, call the emergency number printed on your voucher and on the key fob. The rental company manages the vehicle and insurance claims. For booking or payment questions, reach Rodavia at [email protected] or +355 68 315 9264 between 8:30 and 18:30 CET, Monday to Sunday.
